Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and mechanically skilled Fabrication Shop Mechanic to repair vehicles and shop equipment and machinery. This role is essential to keeping production running safely and efficiently by minimizing downtime and ensuring all equipment is operating at peak performance.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
 
Compensation:Commensurate with experience. 
Benefits:Competitive Benefits. Available on the 1st of the month after a 30-day waiting period from the hire date. Phillips Tank pays approximately 60% and employees pay 40% of medical benefits premiums. Employees pay 100% for all other voluntary benefits. Paid Time Off.
Status:Full-time/Hourly (Overtime Non-Exempt).

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues on shop equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance on fabrication machinery, vehicles and welding machines
  • Repair or replace defective components on saws, presses, welders, shears, CNC machines, forklifts, vehicles and other shop equipment
  • Maintain maintenance logs and service records
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Work with supervisors to prioritize repairs and minimize production delays
  • Assist with general facility maintenance as needed
  • Ensure machinery complies with safety standards
  • Support lockout/tagout procedures and OSHA compliance
  • Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area
  • Recommend equipment upgrades or process improvements
  • Assist with new equipment installation and setup
  • Support cost control efforts by managing parts inventory efficiently          

     
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Technical/trade certification preferred)
  • Experience: 5+ years of mechanical experience
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
    • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
    • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards
