Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Fabrication Coordinator to oversee purchasing, vendor management, inventory control, and overall supply chain performance. This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and delivered on time to support production and project schedules. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication or manufacturing environment.
| Compensation: | Commensurate with experience. Included is an IT Allowance of $35 per month, plus a company laptop computer. |
| Benefits: | Competitive Benefits. Available on the 1st of the month after a 30-day waiting period from the hire date. Phillips Tank pays approximately 60% and employees pay 40% of medical benefits premiums. Employees pay 100% for all other voluntary benefits. Paid Time Off. |

Responsibilities:
- Track labor time for the fabrication shop
- Coordinate and schedule structural steel fabrication jobs (beams, columns, braces, plate assemblies)
- Review shop drawings, erection drawings, and bills of material prior to release
- Ensure all drawings are approved (IFC/Released for Fabrication) before production
- Work closely with detailing, engineering, and project management teams
- Verify material availability including plate, structural shapes, bolts, and consumables
- Sequence work to optimize cutting, fitting, welding, and finishing operations
- Track job progress and provide daily/weekly production updates
- Identify and resolve production delays, drawing discrepancies, or material shortages
- Coordinate with purchasing on long-lead items and shortages
- Support shop foremen with priorities and workload balancing
- Maintain fabrication schedules and job tracking systems (ERP/MRP)
- Assist with estimating fabrication durations and labor hours
- Ensure compliance with quality standards (AWS welding, tolerances, etc.)
- Promote and enforce safety practices on the shop floor
- Review all QC, NOE & MTR paperwork for all material
- Production scheduling & workflow coordination
- Blueprint and drawing interpretation
- Strong organizational and multitasking ability
- Communication between office and shop teams
- Problem-solving in a fast-paced fabrication environment
- Attention to detail and quality focus
- Understanding material grades & ASTM for steel fabrication
- Knowledge of CAM/CAD systems
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in drafting, construction, or manufacturing preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication or coordination
- Strong understanding of structural steel drawings and detailing practices
- Familiarity with AWS welding symbols and fabrication standards
- Ability to read and interpret shop and erection drawings
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel strongly preferred)
