Job Summary
The Entry-Level Buyer / Supply Chain Manager supports manufacturing operations by helping ensure raw materials, components, and outside services arrive on time to keep production moving. This is not a desk-only role, it requires urgency, organization, and a strong partnership with the shop floor.
We are looking for someone early in their career who is dependable, eager to learn, and ready to build a foundation in manufacturing supply chain. The right candidate is a proactive teammate with natural curiosity, strong organizational skills, and the problem-solving ability to navigate a fast-paced production environment.

| Compensation: | Commensurate with experience. Included is an IT Allowance of $35 per month, plus a company laptop computer. |
| Benefits: | Competitive Benefits. Available on the 1st of the month after a 30-day waiting period from the hire date. Phillips Tank pays approximately 60% and employees pay 40% of medical benefits premiums. Employees pay 100% for all other voluntary benefits. Paid Time Off. |
| Status: | Full-time/Hourly (Overtime Non-Exempt). |

Responsibilities
- Understanding the scope of work and budget for your assigned project.
- Understanding logistics and freight, including costs.
- Ensure the timely delivery of all materials.
- Assist in purchasing production materials such as steel, aluminum, hardware, and fabrication consumables.
- Create and manage purchase orders while verifying pricing, quantities, and delivery dates.
- Track open orders and follow up with suppliers to confirm commitments and prevent delays.
- Support production schedules by monitoring material availability and escalating risks early.
- Coordinate outside processing services including powder coating, machining, laser cutting, and plating.
- Partner with production, engineering, and project management teams to understand material priorities.
- Maintain accurate data in ERP/MRP systems and organized procurement records.
- Help identify cost-saving opportunities and reliable suppliers.
- Learn to interpret basic material specifications and drawings over time.
- Step in to help resolve shortages with a solutions-focused mindset.
- Ensure procurement standards and procedures are followed.
- Understand project budget and communicate any anticipated or actual cost overruns to the Project Management Group.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, manufacturing or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
- Experience: Internship, co-op or up to 2 years of experience in manufacturing, purchasing, operations or fabrication is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word & Excel, internet software and email
- Comfortable working in a deadline driven environment
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, quality control or production scheduling
- ERP/MRP exposure is beneficial but not required
- Teamwork & Collaboration:
- Team player with clear and respectful communication skills
- Curious and eager to learn new tools, processes and industry standards
- Problem Solving & Decision Making:
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the initiative to dig into issues and propose solutions
- Documentation & Organization:
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs at once
- Strong attention to detail
